A HUSBAND who assaulted his wife after she bought the wrong brand of baked beans has been ordered to pay £500 compensation.

David White, 42, flew into a violent rage after he spotted his wife Sharon had bought HP beans when he had wanted Heinz. White denied a charge of common assault, but was found guilty last month.

The incident erupted in the couple’s home in Rhydyfelin, near Pontypridd. The prosecutor, Ian Kolvin, yesterday told a court how Mrs White had been intending to buy Heinz beans but the shop only had HP. He said White threw the beans at her, shouted abuse and kicked Mrs White in the thigh.

He verbally abused his wife and told her, “I’m going to kill you”, Mr Kolvin said. He also punched her shoulder.

White was ordered to pay £500 in compensation as well as £100 in costs, and was sentenced to a two-year community rehabilitation order.

To make the punishment truly fit the crime, they should have ordered him to eat HP baked beans at every meal for those two years as well! :stuck_out_tongue: :smiling_imp:

Reminds me of the guy who shot his wife for trumping his ace when they were playing bridge. The jury acquitted him, but after the experts analyzed it, it turned out to be the only way to defeat the contract.

My wife prefers Heinz, too, but some of the grocery stores around here don’t carry them.
