Male fiddlers who experience pseudofolliculitis.

Pseudofolliculitis is when the follicles, of facial hair that has been cut close to the skin, become inflamed (sometimes referred to as “mechanical acne” or “razor bumps”). I’m suseptible to this and the chin-rest of my fiddle is not kind to it. Are there any fiddlers here who contend with this problem, and if so, have you found or developed any solutions to it?

Have you tried a Gelrest?

With a shoulder rest of this sort, you don’t need much chin or neck pressure on the chin rest and can still keep the fiddle securely supported:

You could always change your technique.

Though I guess pseudofolliculitis on your chest wouldn’t be much fun either.

I’m just happy that none of the ladies have responded to this thread.
