I have tried reeding a set made from Garvins plans, whether they were made exactly to the plans I don’t know ( I err on the side of probably not), but they didn’t work at all well (I am not saying anything about whether the plans are correct or not). They looked fine though. (The maker was a precision engineer but not a piper, I had my reg keys made by him, and they worked). In my experience, you have to have musical knowledge to really get them going. I would have presumed that taking exact measurements and replicating them, would produce the desired article, but more often than not the maker seems to apply their own ideas in the process, and a small alteration
can make or break. I’m wondering that given the different plans available, why there are still so many bad sets flying around?

Dionys/Kevin we may well be reading different books here! I am quoting the 3rd edition 2000.Page 17.Drawing to Scale:x 0.5
Throat=5mm
Reed Seat(conical bore)from 5mm to 7mm
Distance of reed seat(here there appears to be a printers ommission)but it should be 12mm
Distance from end to end 362mm I apologise to you both if we are looking at different editions but it is absolutely possible to make a chanter from these dimensions.They are very close to Rowsomes dimensions.For the reamer 4 sq.mm sq.steel working to the sq,root of 32 will do the trick.That is Rowesomes measurement.I hope this clarifies things and as a result of our exchanges Wilbert can look forward to a life of luxury on the proceeds of the sale of his book.Kevin,apology accepted.
My thoughts will be with yous all in America today.

OK, let me try this again. As a rookie at this, I am ASKING you veterans for a critique of Ginsberg’s plans. I bought a set, they look good to me but I am just beginning with this stuff. Could some of you PLEASE share with me your knowledge. Are there any problems with his plans?

These stolen plans are back up on Ebay if anyone wants to report the person, email him/her, or get their contact information from Ebay for a lawsuit.
