This thread made me wonder, what do you do to make the world stranger?
I use to have “Shirt and Tie Thursdays” in an office where shorts and tee shirts was often the norm.
I also had a manikin that surprised the heck out of people that came to inspect my room. The clothing changed weekly thanks to the lady down the hall.
I have started to think that I should make a fool’s costume and wear it on April 1 and throw a fool’s party. (My only fear is that Hallmark would ruin it)
Ok - seriously (HAH!) - what do I do to make the world stranger?
Well, I have “non-mainstream” tastes in music. Anything goes just about - from Celtic, to Folk, to World, to Country, to “old” rock (no rap). I’ve passed that on to my kids. And, of course, I play things like whistle and dulcimer.
I’ve become known as the “Mardi Gras” Queen at work. Every year I bake a king cake, bring in lots of beads and doubloons, wear my purple, green and gold stripped shirt, etc.
My one son and I are Star Wars fanatics. I think Noah has the entire Trivial Pursuit cards memorized…
My other son and I are muscle car (or 'Vette) fanatics. What other 18 year old asks his MOM to help him work on his truck?
Well, let’s see, the other day I was working on my daughter’s car in the driveway. I finally got the starter out after having to remove the high pressure hose from the AC, the oil pressure sending unit, and the oil filter ( (&&^% GM products!) so I did my Snoopy happy dance in the driveway…
(My kids are finally starting to believe me when I tell them that a parent’s most important job is to embarrass their children at every opportunity.)
I make cream cheese and jelly sandwiches. Guarantees a strange look over here.
When taking an elevator/lift, my uncle liked to wait until someone else got in and then start talking to his eldest son about strange things, like imminent criminal activity or corporate takeovers or whatnot, as if there’d been a conversation going on all along. I think he liked to see the other person try not to react.
