There might be a hint in the description of the clip…

Subtle hint, eh? Nice to see another player from the Lehigh Valley on C&F.

Thanks. I couldn’t open up the description from my phone. Anyone have any experience with Goldfinch Whistles?

Never played one. :frowning: I doubt there are many in the US at this point being made and sold in Poland. It is always wonderful to see makers all around the globe producing whisltes since we generally associate them with Irish/Scottish/British folk music. But the allure is broader than that I suppose. The maker seems knowledgeable and motivated - and inspired like many of us by the Glenn Schultz’ Water Weasels. They’ve modified their design a bit since the initial offerings. They look decent but I have no idea how they play, sadly. Those videos are some of the few clips I have heard of the Goldfinch whistle. You can do a search of the archives for the bits of info that have been offered here about them in the past.

Welcome to the whistle forum.

The Goldfinch whistle sounds nice from that clip. I don’t have any experience with the Goldfinch, nor do I have any experience with the Parks whistle, but, I’d like to hear if anyone has both and could do some comparisons.

I looked at the website some years ago, when the maker posted here. It doesn’t seem to have changed much since :

I am tempted sometimes into buying, because they do sound like they could be nice, but if experience has taught me anything it is not to buy a whistle untried.

And yet (nearly?) all makers post clips of Irish music on their websites to sample their wares. To my ear however more often than not in a quite counter-productive way (which is to say the playing in clips posted on makers websites has never convinced me to buy a whistle but instead put me off purchase numerous times).

To my ears the whistle sounds good.
