Make a whistle into a Ullieann pipe chanter

Hey all
sounds crazy :boggle: i know but i going to try it :confused: . But i dont have any spare body tubes :sniffle: . Now would any of you be kind enough to offer me spare body tubes, in the key of d, but other keys would do i dont care.

Hobby Lobby has lengths of brass tuning that is perfect for making whistles. Comes in two widths. I think it’s sold for making wind chimes. The lengths are about 1.25 times the lenght of a whistle. Might help.

For some reason this reminds me of a Popular Mechanics spoof I saw years agon in another magazine. Not sure which one, but given my reading tastes in those years it was probably Mad Magazine.

It started with “How to make a screwdriver from a file” and progressed through various iterations until the final panel was “How to make a file from a screwdriver”.

It’s in the key of A.
If you already have the fipple I suggest you go to The Home Depot and buy some 1/2" copper tubing. It’s the easiest and least expensive way to get your project going.

Someone on the uilleann pipes forum aready figured it out for ye:
brass chanter update 29 july 2003 - Uilleann Pipes - Chiff & Fipple - based on the penny chanter of David Daye’s, I think. You’ll need a reed unless you’re trying to make a whistle with the exact fingering of a D chanter uilleann pipe.
