Mack Hoover??

Hi -
Can anyone tell me if Mack has left the whistle-building biz (pleasegodno…), or changed his email - or what else may be up?
I’ve bought a whistle and a couple whitecaps from him within the past 6 months, and emailed him about a month ago looking for a Hoover A whistle to add to the family, but have never heard back. I’m hoping he hasn’t shut down the workbench…
Any info appreciated -

Mack’s last post here was yesterday, and this recent post sheds light on his whistle building and order status:

Have you tried contacting him by PM here?

No, I hadn’t thought to try the PM thing yet - I’ll definitely do that, thanks!
I’m sorry to hear that Mack is being deluged by orders, drowning in something you love is still drowning… But I’m not quite sorry enough to ease his burden by not ordering my A whistle, lol.
I am going to wait til after July 1 to order, though. I will be more than happy to pay as much as he asks, & I think he should raise his prices a lot more than 10%. There are whistles not half the quality of his going for twice his price.
Anyway, thanks for the info! C&F to the rescue and a Hoover whistle in my future! Life is good… b(^_^)d

As Jimmy Reed would sing, “Aw shucks, hush your mouth.”.

Mack’s whistles have a very high “giggle factor”. Every time I play one I cannot help it. I burst out giggling. They are as much fun as a whistle player can have.

I’ve got a phenolic resin D “on the bench” (per his latest email to me), but he did say I shouldn’t be in too big a hurry expecting it. I’m assuming ‘phenolic resin’ means bakelite? From everything I’ve read about his whistles, I’m sure it’ll be worth the wait! I’m really interested in how this resin whistle will sound. I know Michael Burke makes bakelite whistles as well. I’ve got a real fondness for the material. Mack’s asked me to provide him with an “honest critique”, since he’s donated and given away a few of these, but not gotten a lot of useful feedback. I’ve promised him I’ll do my best, within the limits of my massive ignorance and deep inexperience

Cheers

Any photos or impressions?
I’ve got multiple Mack Hoovers but no phenolic resin whistles.

Nup, not dead yet.

I still do have a catalog but no photos associated. http://praisewhistlers.org/mackhooverwhistles/MackHooverWhistles.html

I will share photos and details if you email me.

Here is a sample, it is a 1/2" ID soprano Dd with a wood look. It has the thumb hole.

That photo will do nicely for me.
Thanks Mack.
