Lúnasa tunes for a D or C tin whistle

Hi,

I have both a D and C tin whistle and have started playing again after an absence of 10 years. I really like Lúnasa but find their tunes are in all sorts of keys. Are their any tunes by Lúnasa that would suit my whistles or any other artist who play similarly beautiful music that you might suggest?

Thanks,

Barry.

Assuming you’re looking for stuff you can play along with on your whistles, I’m particularly fond of the very first track of the first album (the one that starts with the clan march and ends with “Maid of Mt Cisco”) and that first track of jigs on Otherworld.

I play Lunasa’s version of Lord Mayo’s March on my D whistle & flute. I’ve been at this about 14 months and only hit a few songs that did not sound good in D. Hardly play my C anymore, but I have more whistles & flutes than fingers.

Rose in the Heather sounds best on my Bb flute. Great tunes should not be hard to find. Try thesession.org for beginner tunes in ABC format and sheetmusic & do a search here for tunes & I’ll bet you’ll find more in 5 minutes than you can learn in 5 months… ; )

Best,

Deisman
