www.talbertstclaire.com Recently I’ve had the opportunity to converse with Talbert thru PM’s. I learned that he had a web site and CD of low whistle music. It’s new, fresh and very fun. His low whistle playing is very good (IMHO) and he plays Overtons. It be nice if we could support him. I think by supporting him we support whistles. There’s also lots of free MP3’s to listen to, just go to the URL above and check it out.
Happy New Year,
Jon Harl
I second what Jon has said, Talbert is an extremely nice individual and I can’t wait to hear his sound samples when my son figures out what’s up with this crazy computer of mine! ![]()
Mary
Maybe it’s not your computer. I too was unable to get the sound samples, and my computer is otherwise working fine. Anyone else?
PhilO
Skip the first sample… looks like a technical problem there.
I listened to the track samples on Talbert’s site. (May Morning Dew doesn’t link, all the others do.) Very nice playing. Not a rookie. He credits Davey Spillane as being a big influence. This is clearly evident in Talbert’s style. A warning to the pure droppists, Talbert’s music is a mixture of influences (and instruments) from around the world. If you like the style of Spillane’s Sea of Dreams, this would interest you. Anyway, it seems foolish to write about this when you can go directly to the site and listen.
Oh yeah, huh?
Tony
hi tony! saw your post this morning. thanks much for that, and your
compliments do mean a great deal. -talbert ![]()
I too visited Talbert’s site, and his site was done pretty darn well. I do some web site imaging myself. I liked his MP3s, and I think we can look forward to watching this guy. I like Spillane, but I’m more of a James McNally type. Anyone know if or when McNally is putting out another album?!
Thanks for the link!
I like it, but as Tony puts it, I also fall for Sea of Dreams and many of these mixed-trad musics.
Btw, anyone heard of the Breton+Berberic band named “Mugar”?
See and listen RealAudio @ http://mugar.online.fr/
PS: on the download problems with Talbert’s site, I noticed the samples on the site are titled as ".mp3’, while my computer sees them as RealPlayer (.m3u) stuff. ![]()
Now, I will have to purchase the record from Talbert anyway… Now, I don’t have broadband, what with this huge on-line bonus track ? ![]()
They ARE mp3 files. The links point to .m3u files which enable streaming mp3. RealPlayer is triggered on your PC because it’s configured on your machine as the default player for streaming mp3 links.
Interesting music by Talbert and well played.
Winamp came up to play the streams as usual when I clicked on the links but would not connect to the host so I right clicked a clip link instead and went to properties and highlighted and copied the address then pasted it into media player and it worked fine.
Happy New Year!
I hate you cleaver guys ![]()
Lucky Talbert is sending me a

ireland (vacationing) he would allways call me"the davy spillane man”!
my respect for kevin whom i do not know personally, is very strong!
he is an “amazing” musician!!! his flute and whistle’s have definitely
captured my attention.- thanks
