Low Whistle Tutorials by Phil Hardy

Just to let everyone know that, out of the goodness of his heart, Phil Hardy is filming high quality teaching videos for low whistle players . . . . and they are really excellent. He’s a great teacher. So far he has filmed five and, personally, I can’t wait for more. Initially they are aimed at beginners but gradually, I suspect, the bar will be raised in favour of intermediate players. Check them out at http://www.kerrywhistles.com/movie.php?groupID=48. Also see Top Tips listed down the side which are further teaching videos. What Phil needs is feedback from those who watch them i.e. what would you like to see taught on video? Check them all out and e-mail him. They are seriously good videos that you would fork out a lot for if they were on DVD.

Might be helpful to call B (in Tutorial Low Whistle 5) ‘B’ instead of repeatedly referring to it as ‘A’!

Phil is already aware of the mistake and will make mention of it in a note next to the video and also in the next one. When making films, he has a lot to think about all in one go.

All very well Mr Duggan, but I don’t see you putting any clips up.
What did you do today that helps people improve their playing?
Very easy to knock people innit?

wiz

That’s all irrelevant, unnecessary and borderline offensive!

Very easy to knock people innit?

But, if I was producing teaching materials and making mistakes like that, I’d expect to get picked up on them and would personally be remaking that video rather than leaving it up…

What did you do today that helps people improve their playing?

I think you might find that Peter is a music teacher so it is quite possible that he helped someone improve their playing today whatever day today is.

And I also do not see why one should have to create a video in order to point out an error in a video that will quite possibly confuse people trying to learn.
And writing that I realize Peter helped people learn that day by pointing out the error.

Perhaps the video should be edited - just bleep out the ‘A’ with a ‘B’, or add subtitles! (or should that be suatitles? a or b it matters)
