Low Whistle tips?

Although my son is only six months old he was smart enough to use my credit card and order me my first low D whistle from the whistle shop! Kids gotta be a genius. Now I have to play it.
I know the practice, practice,

The Whistle Shop also sells a book devoted to playing the low whistle. Sounds like it might be right up your alley (I haven’t seen it in real life, just on the website).

Fingering’s easy – the low-D has the same fintering as the high-D.

The most important exercise is learning the piper’s grip – covering the holes with the middle pads of your fingers rather than the last pads. I believe there’s a pic of this on the low-whistle page of the main C&F site. Many people, including me, use the last pads of the ring fingers. I like this grip so much that I play pretty much anything A and below using it, and even occasionally find myself unconsciously playing a C this way.

Your son sounds very advanced. My daughter showed no interest in the whistle until almost 10 months of age. I think it took me another month to switch her from the Water Weasel Bb to a pair of Susatos (C and D). I took this as a sign of very discerning taste.
