Do try Colin’s Overtons. From what I hear from other Overton owners they are easy to reach. (I can’t comment about my Overton which seems to have a different reach measurement!) They are also quality instruments in every sense - you can check back on past postings to see what has been said. It is my opinion that the Overton is the Ultimate Low D, definitely what you must get if you’re a Low D fanatic.
This is one thread which was about reach and etc:

Another alternative is the Burke EZ Low D, which has a nice reach and small tone-holes too, but it is quite different from the Overton.
You might also want to try a Dixon low D, if you don’t want to shell out for a high-end whistle but want great sound.
Thom Larson of the Whistle Shop also pointed out to me that it isn’t necessary to use piper’s grip with both hands – and I find that with the Dixon, I only use a modified piper’s grip with my right hand, but use standard grip on the left hand.

You may also want to try an Overton low F - beautiful sound and more manageable.
