While in my local music shop, I saw a whistle on the shelf that just looked huge.
When I got a look at it, it turns out to be a Chieftain Bass A. Now, I play a low D with normal fingering, as piper fingering just hits the holes wrong for me. However, there isn’t a prayer that you could play this thing with normal fingering (and on this one, piper fingering hit the holes right for me). However, the other big problemn is that you need long arms to play it. I had a fully angled piper fingering, and my arms were just a bit strained to hold it in playing position.
I’m really tempted to buy it, just to see what it would sound like (no playing of the whistles allowed there), and just to say that I had one of these moonsters.
