This is the first time I am selling something since I have been in these forums.
I am looking for Australian buyer/s only for
a bass Bb tunable flute in PVC made for me by Doug Tipple. It has two thumb holes and four finger holes which help span. The flute cost me about USA$65. I will sell this for AUS$100 which includes postage and a cloth bag.
a small G flute in PVC with adjustable lip plate made by Doug Tipple. This one cost me about USA$45. Will sell for AUS$70 including postage and a cloth bag.
or both for AUS$160 including postage.
I am trying to get a deposit together for a keyed Eb flute and these two flutes I never play because I already have a concert standard G bamboo flute and I now have a concert standard wooden Bb whistle.
If you are in Australia and are prepared to pay by Australia Post Money Order please PM me initially. Thank you.
Each flute will come with a cloth tie bag.
Buy now before I change my mind!
There are other instruments by other makers I could sell but I don’t think they would go down as well as what I am offering here.
For instance I have a really nice bodhran with a kangaroo skin. I have had this for about 20 years and I used to play it a lot when I was doing a lot of percussion stuff (about 4 hours a day on tabla, congas etc). Most of my muiscal time now is taken up with fluting, singing and composing and if I ever need to work rhythm I do it on my indian tablas. Given the sort of comments made in these forums I am quite embarassed to be owning a bodhran and I would not be unkind enough to offer it for sale here.
Bodhran haters should count themselves lucky that I am simply selling some simple system PVC flutes here!
Also included with the Bb flute will be a wire cleaning rod. I am including this for free so if you don’t want it it won’t make any difference to the price.
Isn’t that a bit “non-PC”? Seems like you’re only prepared to sell to people who are Australian (irrespective of location), or people who are Australian and in Australia.
Either way, your pool of prospective purchasers is somewhat limited where the mandatory ethnic requirement is concerned (I can only think of two 'Stralians 'round here off the top of my head).
Dear Ignoramus,
“Australian” is not an ethnic classification but one of nationality in the strict sense and a locational one in the sense I have used it. An Australian may be an ex-patriate of any country. Australian nationality is not closed to any ethnic groups or any sub-culture (other than terrorists and the like) and an Australian may belong to any ethnic grouping.
One can be an Australian
of indigenous descent (a lot of whom rarely hunt kangaroo these days)
of Irish descent (like the guy who made my kangaroo skin bodhran)
of English descent (like the guy who shot the kangaroo)
of Scottish descent (like the lady who owns the property where the kangaroo was shot)
of South Asian descent (like the guy who helped build the inland railway to takes you to the lady’s property.
of South Pacific Islander descent ( like the islanders who were illegally shipped here as semi slaves)
etc etc etc.
Future humanities sessions for you will be charged at the rate of $50 per post. Payments must be made by Australia Post Money Order.
Actually, I thought your humanities post was very informative, as well as being entertaining, especially the part where kangaroos bounded into nearly every line .
Have you found a home for those Tipples yet? If not, someone should jump on them. Doug does great work, and it’s an ideal way to get into flute playing without having to spend a bundle.
Edited to repair stupid, late-night spelling errors that, while having the potential to be mildly humourous, are nevertheless wrong.
Look! I spelled it the old way. Ain’t hew-mer fun.
I will be gone “bush” for two weeks tomorrow so I won’t be responding to any questions here for a time. Just a courtesy note.
See yers. Hooroo for now …
The low Bb is still available.
I will also consider buyers in Britain who could send a cheque to my ex. to finance some improvements for her harp. In this case, international postage would make it a tad more than the 100 bucks I offered to sell it for.
