Here’s a bit of lovely!

oh gee. But what does one do with such a thing?
Doesn’t play at 440 so well, apparently.

I really would like to own a piece of history. I love my modern Pratten, but, somewhere down the road, I’ll buy an antique flute and breathe new life into it. And all those others will have to tune down. Or up. Or whatever.

You go for it, Gabriel! Hey, I know someone that has 20 of them… Actually, I think it is 21, as I just scored another Blackman/London 8 key. (more to come) The old flutes are great, just don’t hang out with accordions!

Actually, my 5 key William Henry Potter plays nicely in 440, as it has a foot register, they didn’t flatten the foot. I imagine this one is quite in tune with itself, just play it in 420 htz instead. You would really wow the crowd with this one, Jim! Just keep it way from tuners! It probably sounds better lower pitched anyway.

When I visited the lamented Andrew’s house, I played a similar Potter in ebony, but it was a 9-key! Yep, two touches for Bb. I told him to get in touch with me if he ever decided to sell it; at this stage, I sort of hope he doesn’t! Brrrr…

A visitation in the late of night, “Rob Sharer, still want my fluuuute?” AHHHHHH! :astonished:
I repaired the barrel on that one, he liked the way mine turned out , so he sent me his barrel, in a flimsy envelope! I tryed to explain that it wasn’t a good packing job for a 180 year old piece of wood, but Andrew would have none of it…
So Rob, did he make his rum banana desert for you? He really liked to serve that one.

Durned if that ain’t pretty.

Yes, I ate the rum banana dessert. It was scrummy!

Rob

Here I was thinking “rum banana dessert” was some sort of code for playing a warped boxwood on half a bottle of Bacardi.

Sounds like good times to me either way.

US $2,025.00 :astonished: I can’t believe it didn’t go for more
