Loud, low cost, decent sounding whistle.

With respect to playability, tone, craftsmanship, and what I’ll call “personality,” my feelings on all whistles mentioned above and otherwise, for the record:

Outstanding/Best/Love - Copeland, Abell, O’Riordan.

Very Good/Like - Overton, O’Briain, Schultz, Grinter, Sindt, Burke, Silkstone, Elfsong, Busman, Parkhurst, Walton, Clarke original, Hoover

Good/Neutral - Gens, Feadog, Susato

Not My Cup of Tea - Chieftain, Reyburn (original models), Sweetone, Syn

Currently Getting to Know/Jury Out - Serpent, Alba, Harper

Pretty much personal taste; don’t ever feel that I have to “defend” any of these, just play the ones I like when I feel like it.

Night…

What’s the deal with the Susato haters club?

The Susatos are fine low-cost, well intonated, reliable whistles. Perfect for loud sessions, working with a band (guitars, drums, etc) or playing outdoors. When i want a sweet quiet whistle, i play my Dixon,
but the Susatos are great for cutting through in a noisy environment.

Susato bashers remind me of that old saying, “A poor workman often finds fault with his tools”.
Perhaps it wasn’t the whistle? :boggle:
