Just in case: I lost my whistles and pibgorn last night, somewhere between
Morriston and Ystradgynlais. I suspect that I left them on the bus, and
someone lifted them, 'cos the boys at the buses knew nothing today. And I was supposed to be playing carols at 10 this morning - lucky I had one
little Sweetone left (and we did raise 65 quid for Cancer Research)!
They’re in a black plastic whistle roll, and there are a black Sweetone D, a
plain Clarke original D, Feadog D and C, Generation B flat, Burke Pro
Aluiminum Viper Low D, a couple of Susatos (a one and a two-piece D) a John Tose pibgorn, three bodhran tippers and an Allen key. Sniff. If anyone hears of such things about, please lt me know.

That is awful. Have you tried checking inside the station, to see if someone turned them in? I’ve picked up forgotten items to try to see if I could catch the owner as they were leaving, only to have to turn them in to a store manager when I lost sight of the person in a parking lot. A long shot maybe, but do give it a shot.
people are often more honest than you might think but slow in acting so worth checking back with bus company or police for next week or so, A trip to the local cash converters and one eye on ebay may turn them up.
To echo the post above, ringing around the local ‘we buy your stuff’ shops/cheque cashing’ shops is a good bet. When a very valuable instrument was stolen from the school I work at we phoned around such establishments and traced it within a few hours. You need to be very firm with the people at the other end of the phone as they tend to be fairly ignorant and un-coorperative!
Happened to a friend about a month ago, too. She got hers back. Somone had found the case with her instruments and put up a paper in the supermarket where she had lost them on the message board there. Might be something you could do to. Over here you get weekly magazines for every household in our area, they are free. You can put adverts for selling in there and there is a subject “lost/found”, if you have something like this, maybe placing an advert in the one which spreads most is a chance.

I have indeed done pretty much all that has been suggested. I’ll renew my efforts when the world returns to normal (sort of) tomorrow and Wednesday. It’s been a comfort to know that there are some people who can sympathise and understand how it feels to lose one’s instruments.
Weeeeeell, I only asked cos it didnt sound very, erm, authentic… Last time I’ll try to be tactful. Doesn’t sound like a native Welsh speaker but wouldn’t be a bad attempt by a learner, ya see. Thought it might be you or someone else having a try and then doing clever things with URLs that poor little me didn’t understand…
Most people up there call it Llanfairpwll anyway, or Llanfair PG or some shorter form. The name was made up to attract tourists (honest) and for some reason it’s worked.
