Strange, then, that he didnāt announce his retirement from whistle-making himself.
My impression is that Chuck is still very much making whistles, just not on the commercial scale of taking cold orders via the website. Iām sure heāll chime in for himself.

Hi everybody! Nice to know you still care! I am still making instruments. I still have WMAD (Whistle Making/Acquisition Disorder) really bad. (Or good, depending on you point of view) There is no way I will ever quit making whistles. Period. I need to change the wording on my web site a little. That was intended to stop people from ordering the aluminum whistles without simply disabling the ordering system. However, it is true that I no longer sell to the āgeneral publicā. I am focusing on learning to play better instead.
My situation does not allow me to make whistles in the quantity that is required to sell them on the web and all. I am living an Austin, TX because thats where my job is. My tools are in Houston, TX. Itās about a 3 1/2 hour drive. I hope to change that some time in the future, but for now I am living in an apartment and there is no clear way to do it. I am open to ideas on the matter. 
I try to make it back once or twice a month to have a make-fest. The weekend of the 24th, I will be making a batch of 5-6 brass instruments. I am making them mostly for myself, but several people have expressed an interest and so I will make a few extra.
These new brass are (IMHO) really nice. They have a well balanced timber and feature a plastic beak similar to a Burke. (though, they are nothing like a Burke) The airway is internally tapered at a 3 degree angle and that helps focus the airstream onto the fipple blade. The fipple blade is pressed into the brass, similar to a Copeland. (though, the whistle is nothing like a Copeland) The tuning slide is created by pressing a mandrel into the fipple tube to widen it for a nice fit. They are simple and beautiful and I like them very much. I will post some pics on my site and pass on a link after I get them made.
