Looking for tune recordings for Friday

I just found out what the “homework” is for the beginner’s session this friday (Last month I was in PA and couldn’t come). Does anyone have .mid, .wav or .mp3 files of the following tunes?

Humors of Tulla Reel
Home Ruler Hornpipe
Ned Connell’s Polka
Rosin the Bow Waltz
Over the Waterfall Reel
Swallow Tail Jig

You’ll be able to find most of these tunes at JC’s](http://trillian.mit.edu/~jc/music/abc/FindTune.html%22%3EJC%27s) ABC tunefinder, which can give you a midi file as well as ABCs, .gifs of the notation and other formats.

But I’d strongly suggest you try to find proper recordings of proper musicians to learn from rather than midi files.

Well, yes, but in order to be able to play them at this friday’s session (and therefore practice with real musicians) I need to know how they go - since I can’t read music yet.

Thanks for the midi link! Does anyone else have any copies?

I can’t help much but there’s a real audio and an MP3 of Waterfall at Bill Ochs’ site. It’s an American tune from the repetoire of Henry Reed and put into circulation by his student Alan Jabbour. I have heard that there are places which host sessions and have two rules 1) no arguing over tune names and 2) No playing Over the Waterfall.

A little studying can go a long way! I learned most of Swallowtail Jig tonight:

(By the way, that’s on the new Dixon)

Anyone else, feel free to send me clips of the other songs so I can get ready for Friday!

I think the BBC Virtual sessions site has the tulla reel.

[post-edit] oops. No swallowtail jig.
