Looking for "Somewhere over the rainbow"

Do you have the sheetmusic of this song for tin whistle?

Thanks in advance,
Martin

I think a lot of us look somewhere over the rainbow at one time or another.

Thanks MTGuru! How can I convert that ABC to sheetmusic?

Ok, I just found the converter of Concertina.net

Thanks a lot!!

Cheers,
Martin

you’re not helpin’ his ear much there MT…

big letters on the bottom, eh…that’s so confusing

actually I usually start on A…'course I’ve got a G# key
'bet that’s left over from the early 60s and the tenor

Yes, this is easy enough to do by ear. Here it is in G:

I know it’s easy, but sometimes I’m so lazy, lol.
I’ve learnt much more difficult songs by ear, don’t feel guilty in ‘not helping my ear’!

Thanks again people!

Contributing to the delinquency of a whistler may be the least of my sins. :smiling_imp:

well…after

I’d think so…

‘long as you’re enjoyin’ the ride, eh!

I have a special liking for this tune because I’ve worked as an artist at “The Happiest Place On Earth” (aka “Mouschvitz”) for many years and have heard the same sax player play it (backed up by electric guitar and standup bass) literally hundreds of times. He plays it differently EVERY time, a real testament to his musicianship, imagination, and resourcefulness. (He also has perfect intonation and wonderful tone to boot.)
So this tune is in my bones, and when I play it (rarely but on occasion) I incorporate some of the cool things this sax guy does with some quasi-sean-nos styling (can’t help myself).
St James Infirmary, Summertime, Stranger on the Shore, Lazy River, and New Orleans are some of the other gorgeous ballads I’ve heard this sax guy play hundreds of times. Now he’s taken up clarinet and these tunes sound even better on that horn.

If you’ve never heard it, and you like this song, you need to hear Eva Cassidy’s version (on the album Songbird).

I actually don’t care for the original song all that much; her treatment of it, however, is unique and outstandingly good.

Israel “IZ” Kamakawiwo’ole has a nice version of this song, it’s the one they play at the end of “50 First Dates” on a ukelele. Very soothing take on the old classic.

Thanks for the reminder of Brudda Iz, great version of the song from a gentle giant of a musician. Many versions of his recording are now on YouTube. Here’s one:

It might not be ITM but from another tradition.

I think I’ll go get out the uke and play a little.
