Looking for sheet music

My wife and I are to play a duet soon of “O come, O come Emmanuel” and are looking for a nice arrangment for violin and low whistle. Neither of us is a professional musician, but we do enjoy playing. Any idea where to look? Thanks in advance.

I think this is exactly what I was looking for. Its even in the right key already. Thank you very much!

as we say here in London…

BISH BOSH, sorted! You’re welcome!

Martin, that does look like a good arrangement!

Dispatcher, if you have recording equipment, you might want to post a clip. I bet I’m not the only other person here who wants to hear it.

I’ll see what I can do. Hadn’t even thought of it before.

Wait a minute! I didn’t see “When I Can Read My Title Clear” on that site. It’s from the old shaped-note (Baptist) Broadman hymnal and can be found here: http://www.cyberhymnal.org/htm/w/h/e/whenican.htm

However, the “score” is an “nwc” file–Noteworthy Composer? Anyway, I don’t have that program. I DO, however, have the old hymnal, so what’s the dif?

M

You can download the Noteworthy Player program free. You can then open the Cyberhymnal files and also play along to the MIDI’s.

BTW, the HymnSite contains the United Methodist Hymnal.

Just in case I am crazy enough, how does one post a clip.

I fit the “crazy enough” category, obviously, in spades.

Here’s how I do it:

I use Audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net) to record myself playing. If you wanted to add some effects, Audacity can do that–I don’t use effects in my own recordings, but some people like them. Once I get the volume set in the recording to a level I like–again, Audacity can do this for you without you having to rerecord–then I export the file as an MP3.

Next, you need a website to host the clip. I have my own site, flutesite.com, so I upload the clip to there. Also Clips & Snips will host a clip for you; see http://tinwhistletunes.com/clipssnip/#postyours for info.

If you use Clips & Snips, Tony will make the online link for you. If you host it on a site of your own, you can make a link from the file to a website to make it easy to find the file.

I have also posted recordings made from our sessions. These were recorded by a pocket digital voice recorder instead of using Audacity; the rest of the process is the same.

Note: I encourage you (and everyone!) to post clips to the board, but you’ll need to have your courage up. If your clips catch the attention of the IIP, you’ll need to have very thick skin.

Best wishes, and good luck with your music!
