I know commerce is frowned upon, but I’m not selling; I’m looking.
I was inpressed with the last C&F interview and now am searching high and low (no pun intended) for Micho Russell’s Whistle Ambassador CD but can’t find it anywhere. Amazon was no help.
I’m not looking for any one to sell there copy, but for suggestions where to go to find rare recordings. This isn’t the first time I have sought a whistle related CD or accesory and haven’t found a clue where to find it.
I bought my copy at Elderly Music when I lived in Michingan. I have also purchased items from them via the internet without a problem. The other link will give you more info about the CD, and if you poke around there is also sheet music for a couple of the tunes there.
This is by far one of the best whistles CDs I have heard. His style is very different.
While the Whistling ambassador is nice, it may be well worth looking at some of Micho’s other CDs like The Man from Clare and Limestone Rock. And the original Topic solo LP which has been re-issued.
Custy’s or the Knotted Chord have them.

hi, just last week,i purchased ‘traditional irish music from doolin co. clare’ by the russell family. i got it from a Glasgow based online company-www.scottish-irish.com. this album was originally recorded in 1974 for the topic label and re-released by ossian(oss cd .it features micho on whistle, flute and vocals, together with his brothers gussie on whistle(some great whistle duets) and packie on concertina.this album also gave me my first hearing of micho’s flute playing-like his whistle its refreshingly straight forward- no obtrusive over-ornamented pyrotechnics, just great music played with great zest and charm.scottish-irish also have the album that you seek.i also already own 'the limestone rock’which is micho singing, playing whistle and also doing what i believe were his ‘trademark’ spoken intro’s! my local specialist music shop ordered this for me last year. its on GTD heritage music album number cd 104. hope this helps!
