Looking for an Abell for short term loan/lease

A student of mine is on a three month waiting list for a Chris Abell whistle. She is competing in the fleadh in St. Louis in May and the whistle will not be ready by then. (She’d need to pracatice on it for at least a month to get used to it before the fleadh too).

Does anyone out there have a six-holed Abell D whistle they would be willing to loan or lease to us for a couple of months? I have had an Abell for about 15 years now, so I know how to care for them.

Just a note of warning, Kate. Abells vary quite a bit in their sound and playing characteristics from whistle to whistle. The one your student borrows might not be as good a guide to the one she’ll eventually get as you might like. That said, getting used to the stumpy beaks is one source of difficulty that she will overcome with practice on a borrowed whistle.
