Lookie what I did tonight...

I made this in about 2 hours and it actually plays!!! Even though I can’t really play it yet…

What key is that?

2 hours?! Looks great! You must have magical powers. How’d you do it?
(Edited to remove the question Bagfed also asked at the same time. )

Looks good. I must warn you. Once you make one, you can never stop…

Thanks!

It’s a Low D

…and I can tell that this is going to be an obsession

This is what you’ll have to Months from now:

I made the aluminum ones too. I also made a PVC Whistle head, with interchangeable barrels in the Keys of:
Db,D,Eb,G,Ab
You should try PVC some time. It’s Cheap as hell so if you mess up, no big deal. It sounds good, and it doesn’t tarnish.

He’s right, you know… but fortunately I’m happy enough to just make retrofit heads.
Making whole whistles is certainly a bit more challenging.

Am I ever wrong  ???

Looks Good! Yep… built one…looks just like it! Made the window too large and it came out too breathy!

Fun though!

Wow!!! Looks great!

Is it easier to make low whistles than High ones? Everyone seems to make low ones…

or is it a price thing?

Nice whistle btw, Groovehead

Thanks for the compliments!

I’m not sure about it being easier to build low than high, but I wanted a Low D and I built this one for around $10 and I have enough material left over to make 4 more

So, yes price was a key factor… and I just wanted to see if I could do it

I’m pretty sure I did the same thing McChastain, I’m definitely cutting the size of the window on the next one…

Hey Martin,
I think the low’s are easier to make, hole sizes are biger so easier to file out to get them exactly on key(using a chromatic tuner)
and if you use solder couplings the’re tuneable.
