Yeah, I could (and might) spend a whole long time figuring out both parts of Cathal McConnell’s double whistle trick (top three holes of one taped, other one normal) for a tune or two, but has anyone worked something out already?
Funny you should bring that up: I just saw Kevin Crawford do something similar, except he used two low whistles, of different keys (maybe a third apart?), with no tape on either whistle. Reminded me of the Cathal thing.

What?!? I just found myself with a Bb and D whistle in my mouth, making stange and weird noises.
I have a CD here of a local musician playing only tunes that can be played with two whistles, I will ask him for the sheet stuff.
I think Henrik Norbeck may have some, but I think it’s mostly for some Swedish twin-fiddle stuff and probably meant to be played at warp speed. He may have some IrTrad transcribed that way, though.

I don’t think the CD is available yet. It’s a CD from Jean Duval, co-writer (with Stephen Jones) of that recent Packie Magnus Byrne tune book. I saw him play a few tunes like that in a session, that was impressive and funny
Actually, though, I think this new CD of Jean’s is mostly music that was originally composed for one whistle played with one hand. As Azalin says, there are some pieces where he plays two whistles (each played with one hand), but the tune book that I believe the CD is based on is a collection of “suites” for whistle that can be played with one hand, using all four fingers. For some of the tunes, the fifth hole is partially taped over. I’ve heard Jean play some of these suites, and I have the book…it’s fun stuff. Can’t wait to hear the CD!

Ah! Thanks Brad. Sorry for the mistake Jessie, tunes played with one hand arent the same as tunes played with two whistles! Oh well, at least it leaves your free hand to do whateeeeever you want!
On a side note, I am totally enjoying reading Packie Manus’s book (not the tune book, but the autobiography, as told to Steve)!
