Any suggestions of on where to buy new Irish music cds in the US. Mail order is fine. In particular, I’m looking for George Murphy - Dreamed a Dream. (Another 17 yr old who sounds like he’s been to the Tom Waits school of singing. It must be hard to get that weathered, smoking, drinking inflection in a mere 17 yrs). Irish sites seem much more expensive. Is it from the VAT?
Also, where to hear clips of flute, whistle player. Ossianusa has the cd, but no clips.
George Murphy was part of RTE’s popular ‘You’re a Star’ programme, talentscouting for the Eurovision entry. He didn’t make itbut riding the wave a Cd was made. A commercial product not really falling in the remit of the usual trad outlets like celtic grooves or ossian I would think. He does a close Luke Kelly imitation but unfortunately not a lot more than that.
Thanks for the tip. I’ll probbaly pass on young Mr. Murphy. Ant insights on Garry Walsh - Uncovered or O’Sullivan meets O’Farrell. I have a copy of Irish music and many of the performers look interesting, but I’d like a little more than an attactive advertisement before spending $20 on a cd.
