has anyone tried this?

Yeah, but it tends to be rather slow…at least on my computer. You have to pay for it now, right?
It’s also in that illegal category of file-sharing systems like it’s predecessors Kazaa and Napster. Without getting into the debates that arise from all that, it’s worth knowing that the pay version of limewire does not make it legal. You’re paying for supposedly better download speeds and more search results, but that money still doesn’t go to the artists.
Yes, there is that aspect too ![]()
Are they still going after downloaders? Has it stepped up or waned? (I don’t do it but I know people who do (that’s what they all say but it’s true).
No, I recently saw an article saying that the recording industry has dropped that whole business.

thanks, I don’t think i will use it. can anyone recommend something more attractive, less illegal?

eMusic.com has some pretty good prices especially if you buy the bigger packages, but they are dedicated to less popular stuff, like folk and indie, and you cannot, for example, get Foo Fighters or the Beatles there to any significant degree. But I’ve gotten some nice Irish trad stuff there, and I’ve discovered, sing the Free daily Song, some new artists.
You have to be careful with it as well as i know i few people who have downloaded virus vis limewire and have had to replace their computers. I’ve got a laptop now so would not want to use it as it’s not so easy to get fixed!
Have you tried Netbooks recently!
Amazon is selling un-protected mp3s (no DRM, no funky encoding schemes) for .99 for certain parts of its library. I filled out a bit of my Rush collection last night.
legality aside, I’ve heard that it’s VERY virus prone.
