life is good

Yesterday I received an all-wood Olwell bought from another listmember. After several hours yesterday and this evening, I think it’s without a doubt the finest flute I’ve played. It just screams, “Play me with reckless abandon; pull out all the stops.”

Then today, after a considerable wait, my wife’s 8-key Grinter arrived! It features the incredible craftsmanship that Michael and Helen are known for – even the wooden grease holder is beautiful – and has just an incredible tone. It doesn’t scream like the Olwell, but it has a very woody, complex tone, is really easy to play, and is obviously going to be quite versatile.

We hardly ever use the tube as a babysitter, but this afternoon we put on a Spongebob DVD and told out daughter that we’d both be playing our new flutes for awhile.

Yay! Thanks for sharing. Life is good without flutes but they make it so much better.

Congratulations to you and your wife, chas. Getting a really great instrument is always exciting. This is something we all have in common in understanding. I’m really happy for y’all.

Congratulations, Chas. Sounds like life is indeed good. It’s so exciting to get a new instrument, especially when they are as special as your two new arrivals. How about posting some pics/clips, especially of the Grinter? I haven’t seen or heard one of those as of yet.

Happy fluting!

Deb

Congratulations!
