Does anyone have a close-up photograph of Liam O’Flynn’s silver metal chanter top? Also, what’s the story behind it?
In his recent videos you see him playing with a different cap.
From what I hear the change was due to a reed issue.
Leaky soldering issues?
I always thought it was a very impressive design.
I have picture taken December 2014, but cannot get it onto the forum.
Upload it to your favorite photo-sharing site, post the link here.

Are you after a photo of the current cap - or - the old lump-of-alloy cap?
If the former, NPU has a photo of that…

Thanks, M4malious,
I’m looking for the “old lump”, but would be interested to see the other one too. I tried to find it on the NPU website but failed. Is there a link?
Thanks!

The new one is a classic sort of design with that ivory (imitation or real) top with the bead and all.
I always thought that other one, with the fat metal cylinder on top, looked strange.
Was this the original?

Looks like it had a stop-key.
