The lady who recently (and actually) had the virus on my other board said she got loads of returned e-mails marked “undeliverable” because her computer was sending out so many to people she hadn’t e-mailed in ages. If anyone here is seeing this peculiar effect, it’s time to update your virus software, and you have a lot of work ahead. I hear it’s a bear to clear out this virus.
So far, I’ve not recognized a single one of the alleged senders and they don’t conform to any old contacts, as someone suggested. On a hunch, I’m going to do as was suggested earlier and kill my e-mail from my profile - although that could be a case of closing the barn door after the horses escaped. The real problem is that any of our e-addresses probably already exists in hundreds of of databases and address books, so this is most likely just a bandaid.
By the way, for anyone using a spamkiller program, you can add your own flters using text from the offending carrier e-mails - McAfee’s SpamKiller has already sttopped several of those ‘undeliverable mail’ bombs because I added filters to kill any message with the terms ‘undeliverable mail’ and ‘your message has been returned’. I realize that there might be an infrequent legit message with those phrases, but those can always be recovered.

I have a Mac so klez doesnt matter but I just wanted to say that I am still getting this Nigerian crap every day now. It started around the time I had my email listed but I still thinks its cause I am an attbi customer really. I always forward them to secret service as advised by you smartguys.

Hmm my turn finally. I got two in the past 24 hours but since my school server chops out the attachment I don’t know if it was Klez or not.
One was from ejvind (Subject "The Garden of Eden) and the other from gabrielmadrone with subject “End PayCounter™ Code”. I don’t recognize either of these names, and the fact that the emails came to my school account rather than yahoo means they are probably people I have contacted in the past, rather than getting my address from the board.
sniff a virus was the ONLY mail I got this morning…

Great, now people are getting these Klez emails with my address in the “From:” box. I can’t believe there are people out there who don’t have virus protection…

Yeah, I got one with your name on it with Klez. I’ve deleted it of course (I do keep my virus protection updated) but what was really scary was that it had a subject line related to music or whistles or something, I don’t remember what it was…but there was every reason to think it reaaly was from you.
Like I said Dale, I’ve even been getting these things with screen shots from the message board! Virtually all the Klez stuff I’ve recieved has been message board related in one way or another - is there ANY way the the system that hosts the message board, or holds the address database has been infected?
