I live in Sterling Heights, Michigan around 30 miles north of Detroit. I would like to know if anyone might know of a teacher that teaches the low D whistle. I am just starting to learn this beautiful instrument but need a lot of help.

Yup, Tyler would be the first choice in the area for low whistle, I’d think. Quite possibly the only choice – I’ve never heard of someone taking low whistle lessons, in all honesty – but a great one. He’s probably one of the US’s best low whistle players.

I love it when I can not just lurk, but jump in and express an opinion now and then. Better take Tyler up on his offer before he changes his mind.
I get a chance to see a lot of people play low whistle. Some people can play texture with them for a song, and some people can make noise with them for some effect that they wish to have, and then there are some people like Tyler Duncan in Ann Arbor, who can really play them. If you seriously want to learn to play the low whistle, it is a no brainer for you to drive to Ann Arbor for lessons with someone as talented as Tyler. He already has a couple of All Ireland championships, though I can’t remember what they are in…Pipes and Bodhran?? I am getting senile and can’t remember.
Don’t let this go to your head, Tyler, there is probably some instrument you cannot play, though I am not sure what it is

Man, you wouldn’t believe (but probably do) how hard it is to juggle 4 full-time college students w/part time jobs schedules. It is a bitch.
We’re gonna have it done by the end of christmas break.
