Leaving tomorrow for Asheville, NC...

I posted a note a while ago, but the time is here, I will be in Asheville for 5 days, AND… the Flat Rock Music Festival is this weekend! Is anyone going? Are there any other points of interest I might want to check out (music stores, galleries, etc.)? Please let me know. This is my first trip there and I can’t wait!!!

There are a couple of music stores in Black Mountain if you stray that far. The Acoustic Corner is run by Tom Fellenbaum and Stephanie Wilds. Never been there but Stephanie used to give updates on the progress of the store on another list. Looks nice. There’s also a hammered dulcimer maker and seller there. Can’t remember his name right now.

I’ve never been, but heard that Jack in the Woods is a nice pub w/ music sessions every once and a while. John Doyle lives in Asheville and plays at the Woods sometimes.
What kinda fetival is that? I’m on;y 2.5 hours from there.

Hey Isreal,

The theme of the festival is singers/songwriters, and judging from the lineup there will be alot of bluegrass.

Very familiar with Asheville. Jack of the
Wood is a great pub and I think they still
are having Irish Sessions late Sunday
Afternoons. Lot’s of good stuff in Town.
Acoustic Corner and Song of the Wood are
great little music shops 15 miles east
of Asheville in Black Mtn. Have a good
time!
