See what?

The purpose behind Bude’s bemoaning the lack of sprigs of mint in late January.

Spare yourself . . . don’t look.

Duplicate post (and misquoted at that)

“winter gave spring and summer a miss and went straight on into autumn.”

Very nice! I love it!

I bemoan the lack of fresh mint in January because I eat roast lamb in January and I want mint sauce to go with it. I have taken to freezing a few portions of chopped mint so as to be able to make a sort of mint sauce but you really can’t beat the fresh article. And it has to be shoulder of lamb, by the way, and on the bone at that. Anyone who thinks that leg of lamb is a great joint to roast is, in my view, approaching vegetarianism. It’s cat food, frankly.

It’s one of those things. To some people it smells like urine. To others it doesn’t. I can see why some people think it smells like urine but I don’t find the smell offensive myself.

My mother in law never liked boxwood because it smelled like cat pee to her. I have always loved the smell of boxwoods, but I don’t care for the odor of cat pee. Different noses.

Most elder trees have flowers with a lovely fragrance that contributes wonderfully to elderflower cordial or elderflower champagne, but about one tree in eight has flowers with a pronounced cat pee smell. Caveat gleaner.
