Every episode,at some point, refers to Part 17 and I seem to recall Part 19 coming into it as well.
This comes up on the text that precedes a new chapter , so to speak, in the episode and reads something like Criminal Court Part 17.
Sorry I can’t be precise in the quote but I am very tired right now and it is very late here.
Okay, this is a big long page of stuff I can’t understand. I doubt that it has anything to do with the question. Or if it does, it is one particular little tiny thing that is very important and makes these people go “Part 17” but I think Bloomfield would have to figure that out.
Here is what is so totally weird and bizarre about this URL. It seems to be rules about extradition to the Republic of Ireland. Isn’t that the strangest thing? I typed in criminal court part 17. Are there lots of people wanted in the Republic of Ireland on this show? It seems quite unlikely.
Oh, I heard the nicest rendition of the song The Parting Glass by a group called Vocal oh darn now I forget–from Australia. BigDavy sent it to me. Byeeeeeeee!
Oh no, this is so embarrassing. I just examined the URL more closely. It says UK so that is not part 17 in the States. What a weird coincidence. Sorry. I have to go to bed now. Someone will help you tomorrow. No, I have NOT been nipping at the sherry.
It’s like a section or session – “The Supreme Court, Criminal Term is divided into 2 arraignment-assignment parts, 13 conference and trial parts, 1 youth part, 1 narcotics/sci part, 18 trial parts, and 1 judicial hearing officer part.” from http://www.courts.state.ny.us/courts/1jd/criminal/about.shtml
Good grief, D…do you really expect us Yanks to KNOW what it means? We just like to watch the show and pretend that we know all of what’s going on, so when we talk to our friends about it, we won’t look stupid We can just start quoting about “Part 17” at will, and then we look highly intelligent and knowledgeable on the subject. No one ever wants to admit, however, that we got it from Law and Order, or from CSI for that matter
In other words, Dub, I’m absolutely no help on the matter. I don’t even watch Law & Order
Dubh, do they show all the iterations of that show where you are: the original, CI, SVU, etc? My son and I sometimes watch the original version for yucks because the new star, Dennis Farina, is such a clothes horse. Watch closely and see how many “outfits” he wears per episode. On one show, he had to go in the snow and exclaimed “There go a perfectly good pair of Gucci loafers.” Like he’s so pampered that he wears Gucci loafers in wintertime New York. I keep wondering how a cop is supposed to be able to afford all those silk cravats and camelhair coats…
When he first came on, Green kept kidding that he must be on the take.
I was sure they would elaborate eventually, but they never have. Maybe
it didn’t test well in the consumer surveys…
On any week of British T.V. there will be re-runs of Law and Order all over the place and all of them dipping in and out of various series.
It gets a bit confusing sometimes so I try to keep up with the most recent series which was Jerry Orbachs last one I do believe.
We get all the S.V.U. shows as well,These are also shown out of sequence on various channels.
If I want a quiet hour in front of the T.V. I can usually get some episode or other.
