Yes, the slide whistle is entertaining to say the least. I’ve seen very old ones on Ebay from time to time and recomend this as a potential resource for you.

My neighbor got one of these recently, and it is very nice. I am jealous.
It is pretty to look at, handy, and sounds pretty darned good as well. I would recommend them.
The first picture is what I was reffering to. They are very, very entertaining to hear. You really feel that something “unique” is happening as it’s sound is common only to its own.

The first poster was asking about a “Laughing Whistle”, which is a particular brand of whistle, made by Noah Herbison to telescope into itself to readily fit in a pocket - the second picture is of one, colapsed.
The slide whistle you are talking about, though sometimes able to sound like a laugh, is another animal entirely.
