Here’s the Alba Q1:

This is a handsome whistle from Alba, and it has a lovely singing tone. Volume is somewhat on the soft side, with just a little bit of ring or burr to the sound…nice nice sound, really very pure but with that little bit of ring to it.
As others have pointed out, this whistle doesn’t have a blade, rather an inset piece of metal with a plain square edge. This has a unique effect of rendering this the only whistle I’ve ever seen that can produce a (small, thin) tone when you inhale through the whistle!
This is really nice whistle, well in tune with itself and to A=440…I’ve played this in session already and there is no difficulty with not having a tunable whistle.
In several ways, I feel this is one of the more unique whistles I own.
