Cheers

I’m in North America, and I’m seeing the same Kwela promotion, here.

Yup, it’s all over, web-wide. Mind you, as I mentally blank/edit out advertising routinely without even noticing I’m doing it, I had to think hard about the Q, then go check. If we all had high-level mental advertising filters, perhaps they’d stop it 'cos it would work even less than what it does! An ad has to be spectacularly clever (or bad) to catch my conscious attention!

What ad? ;}

It’s my fault - an Adwords voucher worth £10 fell out of a New Scientist magazine that I was reading, so decided to play around with Google Adwords and try to get the word out about my kwela blog at the same time. The money’s nearly all gone now, so you’ll only have to endure another month :slight_smile:

Hey, if it was a freebie, why not go for it? I would. But IMO, while advertising is in some senses and degrees a commercial necessity (you’ve got to tell folk you & your product exist), it always amazes me how much effort and cash is committed to it - but then I kinda assume that everyone else is as resistant/blind to it as I am. It’s a bit like the old pricing trick - put a sticker on at £3.99 and “they” will think of it as £3, not £4. But I automatically mentally round it up (have done since I was about 9 yoa!): ergo, it doesn’t work - so why bother with it, why not just put the £4 sticker on and banish pennies from the till?
