know of a good whistle/low whistle tutor in German language?

I have been searching for a while and could not find a trace of a substantial German language low/whistle or Irish flute tutor. Anything in German language out there, you might know of? I will be very happy about suggestions. Usually there are a lot of English tutors I can point to but in German nothing that I know of.

I honestly have no idea or info whatever on anything in German or any other language apart from English on this - not saying there isn’t anything, but I don’t know of it, not least because I’ve never had occasion to seek for such… but I think you may have spotted a gap in the market, Brigitte! Why don’t you (and Colin) write one? Or translate (OK, rights issues, I know) an existing one such as Steafan Hannigan’s for low whistle and Fintan Vallely’s for flute, etc. - given the popularity of ITM in Germany, I’m sure they’d sell well enough to justify the effort!

I would not be good enough to do such a translation, I know many of the terms but not being a player is quite a lack of skills when needed to get around an English term and there is no German equivalent… :astonished: I could think of a few people who would be able to do such a translation job of say Grey Larsen’s books. Maybe it is an idea for him (Grey do you read this? maybe I could ask a few people for you if they have time and get you in contact?)

Thanks for the thought, Jem, maybe it gets picked up.

I know an ITM player who is a professional English->German translator.

What brought me to finally ask here, is a player who I had already pointed to Grey’s whistle/flute tutor but he wrote he is having a hard time to get the English and if there is nothing out there in German… as he seems to have no time for a workshop/lesson, videos or a book is the only thing to get him on the way and even most of the video tutors are in English.

Thanks again for thinking about this and best wishes
Brigitte

but brigitte…you’re married to a whistlesmith, are german yourself and speak english all the time you have people visiting/ on the phone etc.
and you tell us all, you are not familiar with the terminology hmmmmmmmm?

I support the idea: it would be great if you could write your own.
you two have enough knowledge stored away in that little nut called brain.
sure would be a long term project for now…not helping that player.
but I am sure there are chiffies around willing to translate few things for that player so he can get a grasp on it, no?

Hello Berti

in theory I could do something if I find the time for doing it but I find speaking and writing as my mind is wandering around is so much easier than doing translation work in which I would need to actually translate what the other person means if possible word by word and for this my practical knowledge of how to play is lacking big time (shame on me  )

But I have been asking a couple of people here if there might be intereste in doing such a translation work and one common friend might think about it and the other friend might think about setting up a German tutor. But it would take time with both if they can do it, so I cannot help the player but in pointing him to the online video tutors that I can find and always tell him that a couple of face to face lessons will be very helpful to get the start right.

Things are mad here as you can imagine  will give an update soon
