Oops. I posted after searching, but apparently not searching hard enough… I just found the answer to my own question, “Cold Rain and Snow”.

You may now go back to your regularly scheduled program.
But if someone knows where I might find sheet music online, give me a holler please. ![]()

I don’t know where to find the sheet music Grateful Dead recorded this in 1967. They may have done other recordings.
That’s no help I know but good trivia.
I knew you had to be a dead head Geek. ![]()

I hadn’t realized Grateful Dead had done this song until I started running searches for it-- I’d only ever heard Pentangle’s version. Guess I fail in Deadhead 101. ![]()
Speaking of odd bits of trivia, does anyone know of a recording of the song Red Apple Juice, aka Ain’t Got No Honey Baby Now? I’ve been searching for this answer for years now, so if someone could help me out I would be so happy!! I did a play in high school where we worked this song into it-- I used to have a copy of just the song, but managed to lose the tape after learning the song. Haven’t the foggiest who did the recording, and I’d love to find another copy some day.
Best,

More trivia- I saw the ex Pentangle bassist, the GREAT Danny Thompson, with John Martyn,a couple of years ago. He’s the type of musician, regardless of instrument played, that I’d like to aspire to,he’s just done so much, and his attitude is so open.I really respect the guy.
Pentangle rocks.

Which album is that track on?
Which track, Jack? Rain and Snow? If that’s the one you were asking about, I have it on Pentangle’s A Maid That’s Deep In Love, put out by Shanachie Records Corp., 1988. It probably is on other recordings too, but I haven’t searched. ![]()

If you’re going to get into Pentangle, I recommend you start with Basket of Light. That’s their best imho. It has the original Light Flight track. And the voice of Jaqui McShee… It is one of the few “progressive folk” and “folk/blues” albums of the late sixties/early seventies that has aged pretty well, I think.
Bloomie, I agree-- Basket of Light is a good one. I like the track, Sally Go Round The Roses. ![]()
I also have Cruel Sister, on actual vinyl
; I’d have to say that it’s one of my favorites too.
Best,
Andrea
Edited to add: After a bit of web-searching, I found that Rain and Snow first came out on Reflection, in 1971. I knew mine was a re-release, just didn’t know from which album. Now I do-- gotta love Google.
Aderyn, Here’s a site I found with the apparent lyrics:
http://crydee.sai.msu.ru/public/lyrics/cs-uwp/folk/r/red_apple_juice
It says from “Hally Wood”. If it’s the same song as “Ain’t Got no Honey Baby Now” then it was written by Elizabeth Cotten. There’s some info to be found on her in Google.
I’m not really a true Ded Hed. I just used to listen to them a lot. Saw them twice in Virginia and once in San Francisco.
It’s been awhile since I listened to Reflections. I just put it on, thanks for the topic!! Keep an eye out for McShee and Renbourn on tour. They are going to do a show in Santa Monica soon.
For Pentangle albums, I’m going to say Solomon’s Seal is one of my favs. You have to find it on Vinyl though. The master tape was lost and as a result has not been issued on CD. It contains “The Snows”, Renbourn plays his Sitar on this track as well. Jansch takes vox.
