Kinda funny

I was listening to Raidio na Gaeltachta the other day. My daughter was also up in our computer loft, playing with Neo-pets or something similar. I was enjoying the broadcast because they had several children’s groups on, a couple of which featured our beloved instrument. After listening for a while, my daughter said “I thought that was an Irish station.” I replied “It is! They’re all SPEAKING in Irish…can’t you tell?” She said "I thought it might be Arabic, because they kept talking about someplace called “Fadokistan.” (You guessed it…feadoga stain!).

Your daughter is a very astute observer and listener to have connected the suffix “istan” with Arabic. Even if she was hearing wrong.

Well, she hears the news all the time…Afghanistan, Pakistan, Kurdistan, etc.

My eldest son used to play heavy metal (still does, he has taken up concertina) and I played light metal, the Clarke feadoga stain…

So Redwolf when does your daughter start ear training, that’s great that she can hear that and make some sort of connection to what she hears on the news. And also shows an awareness.

Wouldn’t we all love to live there.
