keys & regulators

Anybody knows if there is a shop, maker… that makes keys for regulators. I see keys of steel and i think that makers buy these from anywhere.

Punteru, each reg key is made by hand by the pipemaker; usually cut from sheet brass or nickel-silver, hammered and filed to shape.

I have never heard of anyone making them from steel. Some makers will get the keys nickel-plated after shaping. Perhaps this is what made you think they are made of steel (?).

I do not know of anywhere that makes the reg keys commercially. Each UP set is unique; the reg keys are shaped and styled per maker per set.

Hope that helps,

For a while Seth Gallagher advertised stainless steel keywork. It’s been removed from the price list. I would imagine it’s more difficult to fabricate with stainless than other metals.

Froment uses stainless steel keys.
Many Pipemakers have the keys cast.
