I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on Patrick Olwell’s lower-end keyless flutes, which cost around $650 and are available in boxwood, blackwood or rosewood. He certainly gets high marks across the board, but I was curious about these flutes specifically.
I have one of Patrick Olwell’s keyless rosewood flutes, and it is a beautiful instrument. Sometimes I miss a tuning slide, but the sound, power, responsiveness are just superb, and the wood itself is beautifully grained - streaks of rosy-brown and black.
