Anyone know the seller?

I think I do and I think I’ve actually played this chanter at a local meeting. This chanter was offered to me to buy. The fella who is selling it is a good bloke and I told him to put it on this site first to sell it but he wasn’t a member. Good luck to anyone bidding.

This is a great oppertunity for some one to get a great chanter.

Although I don’t play a chanter made by Kevin he did make the rest of my set and I’ve played a bunch of his chanters and they are very fine chanters.
Kevin Thompson is a very underrated maker but he has consistedly made great pipes for 30 years or so. In my opinion his regulators are the best ever! You can hear mine here http://www.gnipc.org/tunes/tunes.html and at the time of recording I had no rushes in the regulators. Kevins a great maker indeed.

I should mention that I’ve no personal interest in the sale of this chanter but I thought I’d share my thoughts on Kevins fine work.
And honestly if I wasn’t making my own chanters these days I’d seriously consider buying this one.

I already have a Thompson chanter (although it isn’t stamped by him) and have found it to be great. A little loud but then again, if you want quiet, buy a harp.

I’ve not met KT, as I bought my chanter from a friend who had it made, but I did try contacting KT when my reed died and again when I wanted keys added. I never heard back from him.

KT made Leo Rickard’s D set, to go with his Rowsome chanter, and Leo’s flat set.

I met him in Dublin (Tionol 2008). He is a very nice person, he has so many excellent chanters. I’d buy a chanter from him with no hesitation.
I’d buy this chanter if it were made with silver or silverplated metalwork.

Bidding stalled at £400 UK and the reserve was not met - I’m surprised - I thought a new chanter by a named maker would make at least £500.

Kevin Thompson’s chanters are very slim. I’ve played some other concert pitch chanters which felt like shovel handles in comparison.
