Hi whistlers, well, Im just back from my honeymoon, and Im very pleased to announce that our website is on line.
It has taken 6 months of burning the midnight oil to prepare so we hope you’ll enjoy it.
Apart from all the normal info about products,we’ve put a downloads section for video clips of all your favourite players and this over tome will become a video archive. We have many great clips of all the big name players and will add the to the site on a monthly basis. Not only music but interviews as well(on video). Please email me with your three must know questions as I am in the process of interviewing all the time.We have some downloads of Lunasa,Mike McGoldrick,John McSherry, myself,at the moment and to come we have a video tutorial with M.McGoldrick @ Cambridge Folk Festival.
Please be patient with the downloading time as the clips are quite long.
The whole site is animated so please wait for all downloading for each section.Next month we will have Brian Finnegan/Flook live.

That’s a very …um..flashy site but I’m wondering what I need to play the videos. I have a flash plugin but don’t get the clips. Maybe it needs to be updated or something.

Files 3 & 5 played perfectly, looks like the other ones are missing, this is from the menu ‘downloads’ selection. Steve, is your browser JavaScript enabled?
Aside from the missing files the rest of the website plays well. The graphics are smooth and the overall layout is uncluttered. Navagation is far better than most sites… I’d say it’s a winner!! Superb job Phil.

Hi Phil,
I got all the commercial stuff and a few photos, but no downloads?
Dave.

Not at the moment. I disabled it because it causes problems but it was on when I first tried to see the videos. Does it need to be on to see them?
Steve
I have always had mixed feelings about sites that are heavy with flash content. My laptop with its hi-speed processor and mega-memory can handle it Ok, even if it is still a bit slow, but my older desktop out in the family room seems to bog down.
Otherwise quite an interesting site. I especially liked the music selections. I have a few of them, but I guess I am going to have to pop for a few more…
I have had the Coolfin CD for quite a while. I bought it primarily because of Donal Lunny’s bouzouki playing. I have been concentrating so hard on the bouzouki parts that, I seem to have missed the whistle playing of John McSherry. I just pulled it out and threw it into my player and have been enjoying the tunes and song as complete entities again. All in all, an excellent album that proves there is so much more to Irish music than manic fiddles and flutes.
If there is anyone in Irish music I look up to it would have to be Donal Lunny, and hey, if Davy is good enough for Donal, I guess he’s good enough for me (check out Lunny & Spillane: “Whistling Low/Errigal” on the Common Ground CD)
Good show Phil
