Keeping My Career Options Open...

Y’know, I had got to thinking that as the years heap upon me (well into the future, of course  ) and that as one day I may wind up in a retirement community of some type, I don’t see any reason to turn it all in and ossify. I had this great entrepreneurial idea: open a retirement community coffe shop! I’d call it Jurassic Perk.

Or has this been done already?

Made me think of the Dave Barry crime novel I just finished reading, Tricky Business. (Yes, that Dave Barry.)

It includes a couple of eldery characters who refer to the “Beaux Arts Senior Living Center” where they live as the “Old Farts Senile Dying Center”.

  And then I will show up and we can have long conversations about airs, and slow airs and song airs. I just love coffee.

Did a quick Google, didn’t find a business by that name yet, but found this joke:

Extinct Coffee Do you know what kind
of coffee a T. Rex drinks? Jurassic Perk.

Or you could call it “Has Beans”.

I love that name. I’d go there.
Sorry Nano, Jurassic Perk is cute but feels trendy-ish.

“Has Beans” is already in use at a coffee shop here. My favourite shop name was a men’s clothiers in Chicago called “The Little Brick Shirt House”.

That figures. My good ideas are always a bit late…

Okay, how 'bout a combination gasoline (petrol for y’all across the pond) station and espresso stand called “Beans & Gas”.

Or a combination hotdog/espresso stand called “Beanie-Weenie” (although that name is probably trademarked).

mexican restaurant in a inner city:
“Nacho Momma”

Or a maternity shop in Indianna:
“Hoosier Momma”

Computer service/repair shop in suurban Indianapolis: “The Village Geek”

With all old farts (re babyboomers) retiring soon with all the above posts and worrying about the environment you could open a Natural Gas Bar

How about a New Age automotive paint and body repairs shop:

“Auto Body Experience”

Well, DUH. It’s a coffee shop. Where else can you go wearing Birkenstocks, a rag around your head, and read The Village Voice (never mind that you’re in Detroit or suchlike) and be taken as seriously as you take yourself?

Although I definitely like Has Beans.

I guess you’re right. Especially since Has Beans is taken. You’re going to want to consider prune as one of your latté syrup flavors.

Or I could set up a “Have cute furry animals, will travel” sort of petting-zoo-for-hire. You know, for kid’s birthday parties and stuff. I could call it “So Zoo Me”.

Tool and Die maker’s shop: (especially for the baby boomer’s)

“I Got Tooled and Died”

(Try pronouncing tool with the southern ontario two syllably pronunciation: two–ole )
