I liked him as the dour pastor in Pollyanna. I liked his acting in Fatal Vision, too, though his character may have been a bit gullible. At 97 he was one of the older actors in Hollywood. For his roles in westerns he was inducted into the National Cowboy Hall of Fame (or whatever they call it nowadays) in OKC, in 2005.
The list for the past couple of months is getting long:
David Carradine
Ed McMahon
Farrah Fawcett
Michael Jackson
Billy Mays
Fred Travalena
Karl Malden
Harve Presnell
You forgot Gale Storm.
If you rearrange the letters of their names you can read all about the coming apocalypse.
I always think of Karl Malden in the film of Tennessee Williams “Baby Doll”.
Whose pioneering work in the field of cruise ship situation comedy is grossly underrated. If not for Oh, Sussana, there could never have been a Love Boat. And dn’t forget My Little Margie – a seminal influence on the character of Mary Richards.
Yes..a great actor..a screen legend.
The Birdman of Alcatrazz…
Cincinatti Kid…
On the Waterfront..
To name just a few…
According to the media only one of these are really important.
Very true…

Without his presence in “On the Waterfront” it would not have become the great film that it is.
The Brandos of this world do not exist in a vacuam.

I remember as a kid, having him wag his finger at me from the TV telling me “Don’t leave home without them”. I, of course, left home without them all the time and always felt a bit unsettled about it.
