Just now saw my first wild turkey...

I note that the actual URL’d article title, repunctuated without hyphens, reads:

“Forest Dean boars, lovable piggies eat tourists hands.”

That sounds plausible.

I thought those wild boar are supposed to dig up some precious black truffles that the chef’s all cherish so much. That one pic with the older woman with cane extending her hand to the boar looks dangerous to me. Look at that pigs snout too… digging in something.

Anyway, here’s one for you Nano. Daily flocks, plural, passage and graze thru yard, then the deer, and then Canadian geese fly into the salt marsh further back. You have to tiptoe very carefully in my backyard. The grass is green and so is the mushy stuff. Wild? Nobody owns them, maybe the taxpayers of the state.

And on numerous mornings all year these turkeys just stand outside the house clucking (5:00am) waiting for daybreak. No alarm clocks needed here. Thank goodness my home isn’t the roosting place! Whew! Although, I’d be happy to roast them here.

Nah, they use domesticated for that. But trained dogs are more likely now; they don’t cause as much damage to the truffle beds and tend not to eat the goods.

Cool pic of your yard with the feathered loiterers. You wouldn’t often if ever see something like that where I live; their preferred habitat is too many blocks away, but not too far for the occasional vagrant.
