Just bought my first "real" flute

I realise it’s (probably) nothing “special”, just an 8-key simple system instrument that needs a couple of pads and some TLC, but it’s got no makers mark of any kind so I hoped someone with experience of this kind of thing might make an educated guess as to where it came from and how old it is.

It seems to play “A=440” (the same as my recorders) with the tuning slide more or less all the way closed and my totally untrained embouchure has little problem getting two octaves, so I’m very pleased with it.

I payed £25 sterling (the asking price) for it, though the seller thought it was a clarinet!!

Your thoughts would be appreciated

Nice for 25 pound!
I have one of these cracked up old german flutes and it plays surprisingly well.
They are not all as bad as people would have you believe.

Think John Mckenna!

fer 25 pound it’s pretty special!

yer never gonna be able to find reeds for it though

This kind of flute is as good as it plays (and some play surprisingly well). Keep your eyes open, since the hardware for these flutes pretty much came out of only two or three buckets. . .with a little patience you may come up with a replacement end cap and a C key that will interchange with little fitting up.
Bon Marché!

Very many thanks to all for your insights

Congrats Kyfer, good fluting to you!
