The Doran Weekend 2004 is February 27-29 in Glendalough, co. Wicklow. There’s a phone number for Dinny Quigley, chief ringleader of the get-together, on the NPU site. I was thinking of calling him up and starting to lay some plans for going to this one, it should be fun.

Sorry, no. I’ll have to call Dinny and see who has committed to performing and teaching at this one. I went to the 2002 edition, and that time it was Pat Broderick, Paddy Keenan, Kevin Rowsome, Leo Rickard, Cormac O’Brien, John Rooney, John Purcell, and Mike O’Connell. Neillidh Mulligan came down to hang out, so did Joe McKenna. Dave Hegarty did the reedmaking class, and many experienced, lesser known but very good pipers were around. The intensity of that weekend was relentless and the fun was utterly non-stop. I’m hoping for an equally strong showing this time out.
