John Creaven CD

I have not heard this CD myself, but saw this posted in The Irish Emigrant http://www.emigrant.ie and thought it might be of interest to some of you fine folk.

“I have been enjoying listening to a CD of fine traditional flute playing, recorded in Chicago by John Creaven, originally a neighbour of ours here in Menlo. The 15 tracks provide an interesting selection of tunes played in a relaxed but controlled manner and on five he is accompanied by Dennis Cahill on the bouzouki. In the US the CD is available from http://www.cdbaby.com and will soon be available from http://www.celticgrooves.com and http://www.ossianusa.com. In Ireland, it is stocked by Mulligan records in Galway.”

Cheers

A musician teacher/friend of mine recently gave me this CD as an example of fine traditional flute playing. He got a bunch of CDs from John Creaven himself as Chicago area professional irish musician pretty much all know each other.
It is very clean/traditional and nice to play along with, but you need a Eb flute or whistle as most of the tunes are in Eb.
